No grime in the shell grooves
Deeply textured jewelry has always disappointed me because tarnish takes hold in the recesses first, and on a piece like this with fluted channels running across every shell there are dozens of places for it to start. Within two months my old shell bracelet looked filthy no matter how I scrubbed it. This one has been on nearly every day since February through sweat, sunscreen, cooking and hot weather. I went over it shell by shell under a bright light last week, checking each groove. All of them are still clean bright gold with no dark lines and no dullness, and I have never taken a cloth to it once.

Seashells that actually went swimming
It felt absurd to own a shell cuff I could not wear in the water, so I tested it properly on three weeks in the Algarve. It went in the Atlantic daily and never came off for showers either. My concern was salt drying into the carved channels of each shell and leaving a chalky grey crust that would be impossible to clean out. That simply did not happen. Every groove is still bright, the links between the shells move as freely as they did new, and the gold has not faded despite constant sun and sunscreen. A rinse under fresh water each evening was all it took.

Textured piece my wrist tolerates
My skin reacts to almost every bracelet and textured ones are the worst, because sweat gets trapped in all the recesses and sits against you rather than evaporating. That combination has given me a raw itching wrist within a few hours more times than I can count. I put this on in April fully expecting the usual and there was nothing at all, not even mild pinkness. Since then I have worn it for entire weekends without taking it off, including sleeping in it and through the gym when it stays damp for hours underneath. My wrist has stayed completely clear every single time. It is the first detailed bracelet I have owned in years that I can wear without thinking about it.

gift my sister has not removed
She lives by the coast and it suits her completely. She sends me photos of it in the sun most weeks. Best thing I have ever chosen for her.

Cuff opening slightly wide for me
It sits well but I did squeeze it a fraction for a closer fit. Took a moment and it has been comfortable since.

Opening is narrower than I expected
It took a little easing to get over my hand the first time and I was nervous about bending it. It went on fine and sits well. Just take your time on the first wear.
