Olympia Ring

My history with gold-plated rings is short and depressing. Every one of them leaves a grey-green band on my finger within about three weeks, usually starting on the palm side. I have had this Olympia on almost daily since March and my skin is completely clean. The band itself has not gone brassy at the edges, which is normally the first place it shows. I even checked the inside of the shank under a lamp because I did not believe it. Still the same warm gold tone as the outside.

I have a diagnosed nickel allergy and my ring finger reacts within hours to almost anything plated. I bought this expecting to return it, honestly. Three days straight, then a full week, then a month, and there is still no redness, no itching, no dry patch under the band. The wide shank on this style covers a lot of skin so it would have shown up immediately if there was any nickel bleeding through. My dermatologist actually asked where I got it because she gets this question constantly. First statement ring I have owned in nine years that I can wear to bed.

I bought this for a Cancun trip and honestly planned to leave it in the safe. Instead I wore it in the pool, in the ocean, and in the outdoor shower every single day. Chlorine is what usually kills my rings, and the gold on the band did not lift or turn pale anywhere. The green stone came out of the salt water just as clear as it went in. I rinsed it once at the end of the week and it looked brand new. Second trip in May, same story, so this was not luck.

No complaints about the ring itself, the stone is gorgeous and it stacks nicely with my other gold. The box is fairly simple though, so I moved it into a nicer one before handing it over. Would happily buy again.

Reapplied sunscreen constantly all June with this on. Usually the oils leave a permanent haze on plating. A quick rinse and it is back to full shine every time.

Between the seven and the eight I would have liked a 7.5. I went with the seven and the band is comfortable, just a fraction snug in warm weather.
