Old Money Earrings

Took these to Maui and honestly forgot to take them off the entire week. Ocean swims every morning, hotel pool in the afternoon, one very hot outdoor shower after the beach, plus a rainy hike where we got completely drenched. The green stone came home just as deep and glossy as it left, and the gold rim around it never got that cloudy film my old earrings used to get from salt water. Even the sauna at the resort didn't do anything to them. My sister kept asking if they were real vintage pieces because they look like something you'd inherit, not something you'd wear snorkeling.

Nickel is a real problem for me. Most earrings give me swollen, itchy lobes within about four hours and I've had to leave parties early because of it. These went in on a Tuesday morning and I genuinely forgot about them until Friday night, which has never happened with any other pair I own. No redness, no crusting, no burning feeling at the back of the lobe. My piercings are also old and a little sensitive and the posts slide in smoothly without any scraping. Bought the black pair for my daughter who has the same skin issues and she's had the same result.

Ordered these back in late winter and they have been in my ears almost every single day since. The ribbed gold border still catches light exactly like it did the first week, no dull patches, no worn spots on the edges where they rub against my hair. Every cheap pair I bought before this went dull within a month and two of them left actual green marks on my earlobes. These have gone through humid summer days, sunscreen, hairspray, and a whole lot of sweat with zero change in color. Held one up next to a brand new pair my friend just got and you genuinely cannot tell which is which. That's the part that sold me on ordering the black ones too.

Once in, they feel wonderful and I forget I have them on. The backs are quite firm and take a bit of effort to push on the first few times. They loosened up after a couple of wears.

Bought these in February and they've been my default ever since. Rain, sweat, dishes, a lot of gardening in humid weather, and they still look brand new in the mirror. The stone hasn't loosened even a fraction.

The gold ridges bounce light back into the cabochon so the color looks lit from inside. Without that frame it would be a plain oval stud. With it, it's the piece people comment on.
