Luna Bangle

Textured cuffs are exactly where I have been let down before, because the tarnish always starts deep in the recesses where a cloth cannot reach and then spreads outward. On this design those hollows in the twisted sections are numerous and deep, so I was watching them closely from day one. It has been almost five months of near daily wear through workouts, cooking, cleaning and plenty of hot weather. I went over the entire band under a lamp last weekend, rotating it slowly and looking into every dip. Still clean bright gold everywhere with no darkening at all, and I have never polished it once.

I spent four weeks on the coast and this cuff went in the water with me every single day, sea in the morning and pool most afternoons. The uneven twisted sections were my worry because salt collects in the tight bends and that is precisely where a bracelet of mine corroded last year. There is no sign of anything like that here. Every hollow in the twist is still bright, the gold has not paled anywhere along the band, and the surface is smooth with no gritty texture. I rinsed it under fresh water each evening and never did anything else. It looks the same now as it did before the trip.

I have a metal allergy that makes wide pieces especially risky, since the more surface touching me the faster the reaction, and a cuff this thick covers a serious amount of wrist. My usual experience is redness within about three hours and a rash that lingers for days. I put this on in April fully expecting the same and it has never once bothered me. Since then I have worn it for whole weekends without removing it, including sleeping in it and wearing it through the gym when my wrist is damp for hours. The skin underneath stays completely normal, not even slightly pink. It is the only wide bracelet in my jewelry box that I can actually wear.

With daily wear the opening gradually widens a little. Takes ten seconds to press back and it is comfortable again.

The width means it rests on the desk when I type and I am mindful of scratching either surface. Nothing has marked yet. I just push my sleeve over it when working.

It is bold enough that wearing it changes how I carry myself. Silly, maybe, but true. Easily the most complimented piece I own.
