Love Charms Necklace

This necklace has not left my neck since March, which means it has been through every shower, every workout, and a very wet family vacation in June. We were at a resort with a lazy river and I was in chlorinated water for hours a day for a full week. It also came into the ocean with me twice and I never rinsed it afterward, which I know I should have. The gaps between the beads are exactly where water sits and turns things dark on cheaper chains, and there is nothing there. Every bead and every little heart is still the same bright gold with no spotting anywhere. For a piece with this many small parts to survive that is honestly impressive.

I have not worn a necklace regularly since my twenties because anything plated leaves a red itchy line across the back of my neck within a few hours. It gets far worse in summer when the chain sits against sweaty skin all day. This one is stainless steel with no nickel and I put it on cautiously in March expecting the usual. Four months later it has basically not come off, including through workouts, showers, and a lot of very hot days. There has been no rash, no itching, and no redness at any point. Having a delicate charm necklace I can wear every day is something I had given up on entirely.

I have a bad habit of buying delicate gold necklaces and watching them go dull and pinkish within about eight weeks. It always shows up first at the back of the neck where the clasp sits and the chain rubs against my collar. This one has been worn essentially every day since February and the back section is the same color as the front. In that time it has been through perfume, hairspray, self tanner, sunscreen, and a lot of sweaty walks. I actually took a close photo the week it arrived and compared it last weekend under the same window light. There is no difference at all, not on the beads and not on the little hearts.

The colours are gorgeous and it lifts every outfit I own, so I wear it constantly. A couple of the heart charms turn to face backwards during the day and need a nudge.

White tee, jeans, this necklace, and I look like I made an effort. It is the laziest possible styling trick and it works every time. My most-used piece by a distance.
