Isla Ring

I keep a photo from the day it arrived because I did not believe the tarnish claims and wanted proof either way. Five months of daily wear later I pulled that photo up and held the ring next to my screen. There is no visible difference in color anywhere, not on the dome and not on the thin part behind my knuckle. In that time it has been through cleaning products, hairspray, perfume, and about a hundred showers. My last plated dome ring went pink at the edges within six weeks. This one has given me no reason to think it ever will.

We spent ten days on the Gulf and I never once took this ring off. It was in saltwater every morning, covered in sand, rinsed under the outdoor shower, and then straight into the pool with the kids in the afternoon. Salt is what ruined my last two gold rings so I brought a backup, and I never needed it. The brushed dome came home with the exact same soft matte glow it had on the flight down. No pitting, no dark spots along the edge where it sits against my finger. It is the first bold ring I own that I do not have to baby around water.

I have worn exactly one metal successfully in the last decade and that is surgical steel, everything else turns my finger into an itchy mess. Wide rings are the worst offenders because there is so much contact and sweat gets trapped underneath. I bought this expecting to wear it out for an evening and take it off, and instead it has been on my hand almost daily since spring. There has not been one red patch, one bump, or any itching under the dome, even on ninety degree days. I have showered in it, worked out in it, and slept in it more than once by accident. For anyone whose skin usually rules out big statement rings, this one is genuinely worth trying.

Every weekend from May onward has involved a pool and this ring never came off. Chlorine has not touched the finish in any way I can see. It still has that soft matte gleam.

The finish and shape are exactly what drew me in and it looks wonderful on. It does stand a little higher off the finger than I expected from the photos, so it takes a day to get used to.

I spent more on eggs and a mimosa than I did on this ring, and I have thought about that every time someone compliments it. The value is almost silly. I would pay considerably more.
