Hailey Earrings

I put these in the day they arrived in March and I genuinely have not taken them out for more than a few hours since. They have been through every shower, three weekends at my parents' lake house, and a full week in Puerto Rico with ocean swims twice a day. Add in a hot tub on New Year's style temperatures and more sweaty walks than I can count. Every gold earring I have owned before this started to spot along the bottom of the circle where water pools. There is nothing on these, no spotting, no dullness, and no dark line at the joint where the drop meets the post piece. Water has completely stopped being a consideration for me.

I have a very specific test for plated jewelry because I have been burned so many times. I take a photo on a white background the day it arrives and then repeat that photo every month under the same window light. These circles are now four photos deep and the color has not shifted by any amount I can detect. In that time they have been worn through humid weather, sunscreen season, hairspray, and a lot of sweat. My last pair of gold doorknockers had gone visibly pink by the second photo. These are still the same warm yellow gold on both the outer face and the back of the circle.

I have been dealing with reactive piercings since I was a teenager and I am now in my fifties, so I have tried every workaround there is. Plastic backs, clear coat on the posts, only wearing something for two hours at a time, all of it. These are stainless steel with no nickel touching me and they have been in my ears since early spring with no trouble whatsoever. That includes leaving them in for a full week straight while I was traveling and could not be bothered. There has been no itching, no weeping, and no swelling even with this much weight sitting in the piercing. I ordered a second pair immediately because I did not trust my luck.

The shine and the shape are exactly what I hoped for and I wear them constantly. They are noticeably bigger on my ear than the listing photo suggested, which took a little getting used to.

Once on, they are effortless all day. The backs needed a little practice before I could put them on quickly.

Every Saturday from May onward has been a pool day with these in. Chlorine is brutal on jewelry and these have shrugged it off entirely. Still bright, still smooth, no clouding.
