Gaia Bracelet

I bought this before a trip in May and it has essentially not left my wrist since, including everywhere wet. Ocean swims every day of that week, an outdoor shower after, then the pool in the evenings, all with sunscreen smeared over it. Salt water got in between the flexible segments and I just rinsed it under a tap and left it. Nothing has stiffened, nothing has corroded in the joints, and the flat gold surface has no water marks or cloudy patches. It has been in every shower I have taken since and through a whole summer of swimming with my kids. For a piece with this many moving parts I genuinely did not expect water to be a total non-issue.

A wide flat band shows tarnish more obviously than anything else I own, because there is nowhere for a dull patch to hide. I put this on in mid February and it has come off maybe five times since. It has taken hand sanitizer at work, hairspray, lotion, dish soap, sunscreen all summer and daily hot showers. The whole outer surface is still the same even warm gold with no coppery patches and no dark streaks along the edges. The inside, which takes all my wrist sweat, has not darkened either, and I check it every time I roll my sleeves. I have never polished it once. Five months of that and it still looks brand new, which is the reason I have since bought two more pieces here.

Wide metal against my wrist has always been a guaranteed reaction for me. I get a red itchy stripe from most bracelets within a couple of hours, and the wider the band the faster it happens, so I ordered this expecting to gift it on. Instead it has been on my wrist nearly every day since the beginning of March with absolutely no irritation. No itching, no rash, no dry patch underneath even after sleeping in it. I have worn it through sweaty gym sessions and hot humid days, which is exactly when my skin usually gives out. The inside is completely smooth with no seams or rough edges pressing in, and because it flexes it never sits too tight. For sensitive skin this is the only wide cuff I have ever been able to keep.

Sweat and steam twice a week since March. The finish has not clouded or spotted once.

The cuff itself is beautiful and I wear it constantly. The packaging is nothing to speak of, so I would repackage it if you plan to gift one.

No clasp to fight with means I can put it on one handed in the morning. It sits flat under a shirt cuff and slides back out at dinner. Simple in exactly the right way.
