Espresso Ring

I wore this on a dive trip in May because I could not be bothered to find somewhere safe to leave it, and I fully expected to regret that. Saltwater every day for a week, then rinsing off in whatever shower was available, then straight into the hotel pool most evenings. The stone did not fog, did not loosen, and did not lose an ounce of that caramel shimmer. Since then it has been in the ocean, the lake, and every shower I have taken. The gold wrap around the stone is still perfectly even with no water marks or dull patches. I now genuinely believe I could not damage this ring with water if I tried.

This is the piece I bought fully expecting to be disappointed, because a wrapped gold setting around a stone gives plating about a hundred places to fail. I have worn it every day since mid February. It has been through hand sanitizer at work, hairspray, sunscreen, cleaning products, and more hot showers than I can count. The gold is still exactly the same warm tone it was in the listing photos, including the thin section that curves under the stone where I was certain it would wear through first. There is no dark shadow at the base of the setting and no coppery tint anywhere on the band. Five months of that kind of wear with zero tarnish is not something I have gotten from jewelry at three times this price.

I have a nickel allergy that has ruined a lot of jewelry for me, and rings with a wide setting are the worst because so much metal presses into my skin. I ordered this hoping to wear it for special occasions only and it has instead been on my hand daily since the start of March. Not one itchy moment, no red band underneath, no dry irritated patch where the wrap sits. I have slept in it, worked out in it, and worn it through hot summer days when my skin normally protests at everything. The inside is completely smooth so there is no rough seam scraping either. For anyone whose fingers react to everything, this one is worth trying.

I dozed off on the couch with it on and woke up with no marks and no soreness. That is the real test for me and it passed.

The ring is stunning and the stone is even prettier than the photos. The presentation is nothing special though, just a plain pouch, so plan on your own box if gifting.

In the water with my kids constantly and the stone has not clouded or lifted in the setting. The gold around it is untouched too.
