Double Ring

I have been burned before by thick gold rings that look great for a month and then go coppery around the edges. So I paid attention with this one. It has been on my right hand since mid February, every single day, including hairspray, hand cream, cleaning sprays, and a truly ridiculous amount of hot water. The two domes still match each other perfectly in tone and neither one has gone brassy or dark in the recess between them. I even took a soft cloth to it out of habit last week and there was nothing to polish off. For a ring that gets worn this hard, holding its color for five straight months is genuinely impressive.

I took this on a beach trip fully expecting to come home and find the finish ruined. Saltwater every morning, pool every afternoon, outdoor shower in between, and I never once dried it properly. Sunscreen and sand got packed into the seam between the two domes and I just rinsed it under the tap. It came out looking exactly like it did when I unboxed it. Months later it is still the ring I wear in the water without a second thought, and I have stopped bothering to take my other rings off too because this one taught me what waterproof actually means.

Nickel is a real problem for me and wide bands are the worst offenders because so much metal sits against my skin at once. I have had rings leave a red welt that lasted days. I ordered this expecting the same and I have now worn it every day since the beginning of March with nothing at all. No itch, no redness underneath, no dry patch when I slide it off. I have worn it through sweaty workouts and slept in it more nights than I can count, which are the two things that usually set my skin off. It also sits smooth on the inside so there is no edge digging in. Finding a chunky ring my skin actually tolerates felt like a small miracle.

I run outside in summer heat and the gold has not spotted or discolored at all. Comfortable through the whole run too, no rubbing against my pinky.

It reads bold from across the table but weighs almost nothing in real life. I forget I have it on until I catch it in the light.

It took nearly two weeks to arrive so it missed the birthday dinner I planned it for. Once it came, the gold was richer than the listing photos suggested and she loved it. Just build in extra time.
